In this winter scene, snow covers dark pines beside a half-frozen lake. Snowy mountains rise far away under soft gold clouds. Snowy rocks and a few bare red bushes sit at the front. Try it when you want a longer painting with lots of detail. Your paint isn't kept inside the lines here, so take it slowly near the edges.

How to paint it

  1. Choose Watercolour for a soft look or Oil for a bolder one. Zoom in and use a small brush near the edges. If paint goes over a line, tap Undo.
  2. Make the brush big and paint the sky blue. Tap Texture twice and choose Clouds. Dab the clouds softly in cream.
  3. Go back to your brush. Paint the mountains pale grey-blue, with Darker on their shaded sides. Paint the far forest dark green.
  4. Paint the lake blue. Tap Texture twice and choose Water. Brush ripples over the water with Darker.
  5. Go back to your brush. Paint the snow pale blue-grey, with Darker in its shadows. Paint the rocks light brown, then add their shade with Darker.
  6. Paint the pine trees dark green. Draw the bare bushes with the Pencil in red-brown. Dab snow on the pine branches with Gouache in the palest cream.
