Seen from above, three koi swim through a blue-green pond. Their white bodies have orange and grey patches. Round green lily pads float between them, with two pink water lilies in the corners. It's a good next step once you've painted a few. Your paint stays inside the lines, so the patches on the koi stay neat.

How to paint it

  1. Choose Watercolour for a soft look or Oil for a bolder one. Make the brush big and paint the water blue-green.
  2. Tap Texture twice and choose Water. Brush ripples round the fish and pads with Darker.
  3. Go back to your brush. Paint the koi cream, with orange and dark grey patches. Add the shade along their sides with Darker.
  4. Paint the lily pads green, then add their shade with Darker. Paint the water lilies light pink, with deeper pink from Darker. Dab their centres yellow.
  5. Add the eyes and whiskers with the Pencil and the darkest colour. Dab a few white spots on the water with Gouache.
