A kingfisher sits on a branch, with a bright blue back and an orange chest. It has a long dark beak and a white patch on its throat. Green leaves and red berries hang from the branch against a soft blue sky. Try this one once you've painted a few easier pictures. Your paint stays inside the lines, so each feather stays separate.

How to paint it

  1. Choose Watercolour for a soft look or Oil for a bolder one. Make the brush big and paint the sky soft blue, leaving some white gaps.
  2. Tap Texture twice and choose Clouds. Dab soft cream clouds into the gaps.
  3. Go back to your brush. Paint the branch light brown and the leaves and grass sage green. Add their shade with Darker, and paint the berries coral.
  4. Paint the head, back and wings blue and turquoise, and the chest orange. Tap Texture twice and choose Fur. With Darker, add short strokes the way the feathers grow.
  5. Add the eye and beak with the Pencil and the darkest colour. Draw the feet orange with the Pencil. Dab the white throat patch with Gouache.
