A red fox lies curled up on the forest floor, its bushy tail wrapped round. Green ferns and big leaves frame it, with orange mushrooms and fallen leaves in front. It's a good next step once you've painted a few. Your paint stays inside the lines, so the orange fur won't spill onto the ferns.

How to paint it

  1. Choose Watercolour for a soft look or Oil for a bolder one. Make the brush big and paint the misty background pale green. Paint the ground light brown.
  2. Paint the mushroom caps orange and the stems cream. Add the shade under the caps with Darker. Paint the mossy rock pale green, then shade it with Darker.
  3. Paint the big leaves sage green and the fallen leaves orange. Add their veins and shade with Darker.
  4. Tap Texture twice and choose Foliage. Dab the ferns sage green, then dark green in the shady parts.
  5. Go back to your brush. Paint the fox orange and its front legs dark brown. Paint the chest, cheeks and tail tip cream.
  6. Tap Texture twice and choose Fur. With Darker, add short strokes the way the fur grows. Add the eyes, nose and whiskers with the Pencil.
