Desert Pine Canyon

A twisted pine tree grows on orange rocks, above a sandy path through a canyon. Grey-green bushes dot the ground, and flat-topped hills fade into the distance. White clouds float in a clear blue sky. It's a good next step once you've painted a few. Your paint stays inside the lines, so the orange rocks won't spill onto the sky.

How to paint it

1. Choose Watercolour for a soft look or Oil for a bolder one. Make the brush big and paint the sky blue. Paint the far flat-topped hills soft rose and lavender.
2. Tap Texture twice and choose Clouds. Dab the clouds softly in cream.
3. Go back to your brush. Paint the path pale sand colour. Paint the rocks light orange, then add their shade with Darker.
4. Paint the tree trunk brown, with Darker on its shaded side. Tap Texture twice and choose Foliage. Dab the pine needles olive green, then dark green below.
5. Still on Foliage, dab the bushes grey-green, with Darker at their base. Add the thin branches with the Pencil.
