A big blue whale swims through a dark night sky instead of the sea. Gold stars and a thin moon shine around it. Soft clouds in pale orange, pink and purple roll along the bottom. The shapes are big and simple, so it's a good first painting. Your paint stays inside the lines, so the whale's blue won't spill into the clouds.

How to paint it

  1. Choose Watercolour for a soft look or Oil for a bolder one. Make the brush big and paint the night sky dark blue. Add deeper patches with Darker.
  2. Paint the moon cream and the stars gold. Add a soft gold edge to the moon.
  3. Paint the whale blue and its belly light blue. Add the shade along its back and fins with Darker.
  4. Paint the clouds peach, pink and lavender. Tap Texture twice and choose Clouds. Dab the shade under the clouds with Darker.
  5. Add the eye and belly lines with the Pencil and the darkest colour. Dab a few pale spots on the whale's back with Gouache.
