The Floating Observatory

A cream stone observatory with a green dome stands on a floating rock island. Curved steps lead up to a balcony with a gold telescope. A huge pale moon hangs above a sea of soft clouds. It's a good next step once you've painted a few. Your paint stays inside the lines, so the sky won't spill onto the island.

How to paint it

1. Choose Watercolour for a soft look or Oil for a bolder one. Make the brush big and paint the sky soft blue. Paint the far peaks lavender and the moon cream.
2. Tap Texture twice and choose Clouds. Dab the clouds softly in cream, with lavender on their shaded sides.
3. Go back to your brush. Paint the observatory cream and the dome blue-green, with Darker under the roof. Paint the windows and telescope gold.
4. Paint the rock island light brown. Tap Texture twice and choose Stone. Dab over the rocks with Darker.
5. Go back to your brush. Paint the tree trunk dark brown and the small flowers pink. Paint the leaves and bushes green.
6. Tap Texture twice and choose Foliage. Dab leaves over the tree and bushes with Darker. Add the railings and door lines with the Pencil.
