Small succulent plants sit in pots on a sunny stone ledge. The pots are orange, yellow and blue-green. A warm orange wall behind them shows soft leaf shadows. The shapes are big and simple, so it's easy for a relaxed session. Your paint stays inside the lines, so each pot's colour won't spill onto the plants.

How to paint it

  1. Choose Watercolour for a soft look or Oil for a bolder one. Make the brush big and paint the wall light orange. Add the leaf shadows with Darker.
  2. Paint the leaves on the branch at the top dark green. Paint the stone ledge cream, then add the shade along its front with Darker.
  3. Paint the left pot orange-brown, the middle pot yellow and the right pot blue-green. Add the shade under each rim with Darker.
  4. Paint the round plant on the left blue-green and the other two green. Add the shade between the leaves with Darker.
  5. Add the soil and stems with the Pencil in dark brown. Dab small cream spots on the spiky leaves with Gouache.
