Spring Garden Gate

Spring blossom grows over a stone arch with open green gates. A path leads through to a hilltop village and blue mountains. Purple irises, white flowers and pink tulips fill the beds. Try this one when you want a longer painting with lots of detail. Your paint isn't kept inside the lines here, so take it slowly near the edges.

How to paint it

1. Choose Watercolour for a soft look or Oil for a bolder one. Zoom in and use a small brush near the edges. If paint goes over a line, tap Undo.
2. Make the brush big and paint the sky light blue. Tap Texture twice and choose Clouds. Dab the clouds softly in cream.
3. Go back to your brush. Paint the far mountains soft blue and the village cream. Paint the hills green and the tall trees dark green.
4. Paint the arch, walls and path cream, with Darker inside the arch. Paint the gates grey-green, the pots orange-brown and the tree trunk brown.
5. Paint the blossom pale pink, the tulips pink and the irises purple. Tap Texture twice and choose Foliage. Dab green leaves over the blossom and flower beds.
6. Add the flower stems and gate lines with the Pencil. Dab the white flowers with Gouache in the palest cream.
