A woven sewing basket holds balls of gold, purple and green yarn. A patchwork quilt of blue-green, pink and cream triangles hangs over its edge. Spools of thread, a red pincushion, scissors and a notebook sit in front. It has more to paint but clear shapes, so it's a good next step. Your paint stays inside the lines, so the quilt patches stay neat.

How to paint it

  1. Choose Watercolour for a soft look or Oil for a bolder one. Make the brush big and paint the wall and table cream. Add soft shadows under each object with Darker.
  2. Paint the basket light brown and the yarn balls gold, purple and green. Add their shade with Darker.
  3. Paint the quilt triangles blue-green, pink and cream. Add the shade in its folds with Darker.
  4. Paint the spools red, blue and green, with light brown ends. Paint the pincushion red, the notebook blue-green and the scissors light grey.
  5. Draw the pins, the loose yarn and the notebook band with the Pencil. Dab a little of the palest cream on the scissor blades with Gouache.
