A shiny golden-brown violin lies on an old wooden workbench. A bow rests in front, next to curly wood shavings. A blue-green cloth sits on the right, and tools hang on the wall. It's a good next step once you've painted a few. Your paint stays inside the lines, so the violin's colour won't spill onto the bench.

How to paint it

  1. Choose Watercolour for a soft look or Oil for a bolder one. Make the brush big and paint the back wall olive green. Paint the window cream, the ivy green and the hanging tools light brown.
  2. Paint the bench light brown. Add the dents, grain and shadows with Darker. Paint the bottle golden orange.
  3. Paint the violin golden orange. Add the red-brown shade round its edges with Darker. Paint the fingerboard and pegs dark brown.
  4. Paint the cloth blue-green, with Darker in its folds. Paint the bow brown and the shavings cream. Paint the plane grey with a brown handle.
  5. Draw the strings and the f-shaped holes with the Pencil and the darkest colour. Dab cream on the bridge and a little shine on the violin with Gouache.
