A pomegranate cut in half shows rows of shiny red seeds. A whole fruit sits behind it, next to a glass of water. They rest on a blue-striped cloth on a wooden table. It has more to paint but clear shapes, so it's a good next step. Your paint stays inside the lines, so the red won't spill onto the cloth.

How to paint it

  1. Choose Watercolour for a soft look or Oil for a bolder one. Make the brush big and paint the wall behind light blue-grey. Paint the table brown and add its shade with Darker.
  2. Paint the cloth cream and its stripes blue, and the glass pale blue-green. Add the shade in the folds and at the sides of the glass with Darker.
  3. Paint the whole pomegranate red, then shade its right side with Darker. Paint the inside of the cut half cream, with a red rim.
  4. Paint the seeds bright red and shade between them with Darker. Paint the leaves green and the jug in the corner cream and blue.
  5. Draw the crowns on the fruit with the Pencil in brown. Dab white on the small flowers, the seeds and the glass with Gouache.
