Fresh dumplings sit in a bamboo steamer, with steam rising up. A blue and white bowl of sauce, spring onions and chopsticks sit beside it. Green garden leaves show through the window. It's a good next step once you've painted a few. Your paint stays inside the lines, so each dumpling stays neat and separate.

How to paint it

  1. Choose Watercolour for a soft look or Oil for a bolder one. Paint the garden in the window and the corner plant green. Paint the window frame light brown and the wall cream.
  2. Make the brush big and paint the table light brown. Add the wood lines with Darker. Paint the cloth coral, with Darker in its folds.
  3. Paint the steamer and lid light gold. Add the woven lines and the shade inside the rim with Darker.
  4. Paint the dumplings cream, then add their folds with Darker. Paint the bowl cream with blue patterns and the sauce dark brown.
  5. Paint the spring onions green with cream ends. Draw the chopsticks with the Pencil. Dab soft white steam above the dumplings with Gouache.
