Fireside Reading Room

A fire burns in a stone fireplace. A white cat sleeps on the round rug in front of it. An orange-red armchair holds a cream cushion, a green blanket and an open book. It's a good next step once you've painted a few. Your paint stays inside the lines, so the flames won't spill onto the stones.

How to paint it

1. Choose Watercolour for a soft look or Oil for a bolder one. Make the brush big and paint the walls and curtains cream. Paint the sky outside light blue and the trees green.
2. Paint the floor, mantel and window frame light brown. Paint the fireplace stones light grey, with Darker between them.
3. Paint the armchair orange-red, then add its shade with Darker. Paint the cushion cream and the blanket sage green.
4. Paint the rug sage and cream, and the table and logs brown. Paint the fire gold, with orange at its edges. Paint the leaves green and the tulips pink.
5. Leave the cat white. Tap Texture twice and choose Fur. With Darker, add short strokes the way the fur grows.
6. Add the cat's eyes and the grate with the Pencil and the darkest colour. Dab the brightest flames with Gouache in the palest cream.
